Septic System Specialist

This is a 32 hour a week permanent position. More hours may be available later, with additional compensation, but would not be required. The Specialist drives to locations around Fairbanks and North Pole to evaluate septic systems. Willing to train the right person, so no prior experience with septic systems or engineering is required but experience working outside in Fairbanks in the winter is highly recommended. You will be working outside in inclement weather down to -20F. We only reschedule work if it is expected to be colder than this. Septic system evaluations involve taking measurements with handheld tape measures and laser range finders and using a laser level to take elevations on the various septic system components and their water levels. The specialist must also be able to draw approximate site maps for each location and use the AutoCAD 360 app to check distances. Requirements: -Neat, legible handwriting. -Comfortable going into tight or enclosed spaces (such as crawlspaces) when necessary to take measurements. -Able to work without supervision. -Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. -Comfortable asking for help when needed. -Reliable 4-wheel drive transportation. (You will be reimbursed monthly for mileage.) -Willing to travel for education. -Proof of COVID-19 vaccination. -Pass a background check. -Provide an Alaska DMV driving record. Compensation: Salaried position starts at $700 per week. Increases to $800 per week after training (training will take 8-12 weeks.) Hours are 9am to 4pm Monday through Thursday during training. After training, there will be some flexibility in setting up a work schedule that works for you.
