Description

Hi my name is Dusty Sandaine and I am a local graphic designer on Kaua'i. I am currently working on a grassroots effort to raise money for Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women. Native women face violence, abuse, stalking and many other issues at much higher rates than our national average. STATISTICS -Indigenous Women/Girls are murder rate is 10x higher than all other ethnicities. -Murder is the 3rd leading cause of death for Indigenous Women (Centers for Disease Control). -More than half Indigenous Women experience sexual violence (56.1%). -Nearly half of Indigenous Women have been stalked in their lifetime (48.8 percent). Please visit radbanditco.com/mmiw for a fuller explanation, links, info and resources. What I am doing: As a Native American (Colville/Chippewa Cree) and a person, I want to do anything I can to help this situation and make a positive impact, some noise, and monetary support that can be dispersed in multiple areas of need. I have created a collection of designs that are being sold on tees, hoodies and long-sleeve tees (more items & designs to come) that I am donating 50% of the profits to different Native organizations that are experts in the MMIW space. The first organization money is being raised for is the National Indigenous Women's Resource Center (NIWRC) located in Montana. They work with Native American, Alaskan & Hawaiian Women. You can visit niwrc.org to learn about the organization from their own words. This group was chosen because they have a wide network, even working with women in our Hawaiian communities and a long, credible history of making an impact. This is not a tribal issue, it is a human issue and this is action to make a change. With the help of many we can make the biggest impact, help to get voices heard, and offer support to families that cannot come up with resources by themselves. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and if you would like any more info or you would like to directly support you can visit radbanditco.com/mmiw to see the designs. All support is appreciated on a level that is deeper than words and I know an impact can be made, but we won't get there alone, so let's work together to find our sisters, bring our sisters home and make the MMIW issue get some much needed attention. Thank you, Dusty Sandaine Rad Bandit Co.
