Description

All Discover Diablo hikes are subject to, and will honor, all applicable COVID-19–related restrictions in place for our area. Spring is a wonderful time to hike this loop on the lower slopes of Mount Diablo’s southwestern side. Our route, which includes portions of Stage Rd, Barbecue Terrace and Wall Pt Rd, takes us through big skies and open grasslands, woodland, and along a wide rocky vein with magnificent valley views. Bring plenty of water and sun protection, since about half the hike lacks shade. Be sure to bring plenty of water and a snack, and dress in layers. Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended. Heavy rain cancels. All participants must bring a mask. Hand sanitizer will be available at the hike. Participants will be required to accept our COVID-19 Protocol (available during registration). ***There will be a $6 park entrance fee  (exact change; iron ranger/no attendant) Land: Mount Diablo State Park Rating: Moderate Distance: 6 miles Elevation change: 953’ Leader: Jean Vieth, Save Mount Diablo Hike Leader Meet: Macedo Ranch Staging Area Directions: From Concord or Orinda, take I-680 S to exit 42A onto Stone Valley Rd E; turn right onto Stone Valley Rd and continue for 3 miles; turn left onto Green Valley Rd and continue for 1.2 miles — the staging area is at 3756 Green Valley Rd.
