A guided tour of Belcourt, celebrating the wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. OHP Belmont, married on January 11, 1896. "Marry first for money, second for love." Just months after divorcing William K. Vanderbilt and getting Marble House, Alva Erskine Smith married her beloved Oliver Belmont in a civil ceremony in New York City. Oliver then gave her Belcourt, his villa-stable, as a wedding gift and Alva began a series of renovations and alterations to make the house the coolest place to party in the early 1900s. Let's raise a glass in their honor! A guided 50-minute tour of Belcourt, a summer villa-stable built in 1894 by Oliver Belmont and carefully restored by Carolyn Rafaelian.
