The 10th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and Breakfast will be Monday, January 17th. The 10th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and Breakfast will be Monday, January 17th. Join the City of Martin, the University of Tennessee at Martin, and the UTM Black Student Association for a morning of good food, music, and fellowship. This event brings together community and university to celebrate and honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and raise awareness to live with purpose. During the program attendees will hear from our keynote speaker, hear performances from the UT Martin music department, and honor three different award recipients including The Alpha Award, The Torch Award, and The Harold Conner Award. Location/Parking: This event is located inside the Martin Event Center which is located inside the City of Martin public Library. Attendees can enter through the Lindell Street doors of the library and parking is available throughout downtown Martin. Time: Doors Open at 8:30 am, Program Begins at 9:00am. Seating is GA and there will be 8 seats to a table. The program should last until around 10:30 am. Tickets: Pre registration is REQUIRED. All attendees must register for a ticket to attend the event. Tickets are $5. Please follow these steps to register. 1.Purchase for the number of tickets you need for your attending party 2.Print off your ticket or bring a copy of your ticket on your smart phone 3. Present either type of ticket at the check in table in the lobby upon arrival Cancellation: In the event of inclement weather including heavy snow or ice the event will be canceled. Information regarding a cancellation will be posted on the City of Martin website and social media accounts. Tickets will be refunded in the event of cancelation. Being the home to a Tennessee System school, we are afforded the opportunity to offer a Town & Gown experience being exposed to many cultural activities, fine arts, academic speakers, and Division I athletics. We also provide our students with a “home away from home” and welcome them to our hospitable city. It is a always a great day to be a Skyhawk! The Tennessee Soybean Festival is an annual Labor Day week event celebrating our agricultural history and roots with many community events—not to mention turning our downtown into a festival celebrated by thousands.
