FREEPORT, NY — Amid the skyrocketing cases of COVID-19, the Freeport School District is welcoming students back after the holiday break with remote learning.
Classrooms will be virtual through Jan. 7, the school district posted on its website.
The switch to remote classes is being done with the increase of positivity on Long Island and "the potential of staffing impact," the district said.
Long Island has the highest rate of COVID-19 in the state, with more than 24 percent, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul's office.
