BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Baltimore County Public Schools will be closed on Monday, Jan. 3. Officials made the call Sunday night, citing "expected severe weather conditions."
Schools, offices and the virtual learning program will be closed on Monday, Jan. 3.
Child care programs as well as school and community activities in school buildings will be canceled Monday.
Baltimore County is under a winter weather advisory from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday. The National Weather Service is calling for 3 to 5 inches of snow, with the potential for roads and walkways to be slippery.
North Baltimore County should anticipate 1 to 3 inches, while southern Baltimore County could get 3 to 5 inches of snow possible, according to the Baltimore County Emergency Management officials.
"Even more snow is expected south of Baltimore," officials said Sunday. "Some of the heaviest snow will fall tomorrow morning through the afternoon. AM Commute will likely be impacted, especially if you commute south of the City."
Baltimore County Public Schools advised employees who are deemed "essential" to report on time or to ask their supervisor for leave time, while those designated "essential as needed" school workers should report as directed and may also request leave time.
