FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Schools will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 4 in Stafford County and the City of Fredericksburg, school officials announced. Students in the area get to enjoy their winter break for a little bit longer. In Stafford, Tuesday will be a Code 1, meaning that no teachers or staff members will have to report to work or participate in telework. In Fredericksburg, the school system will observe a similar plan under their Code Red. Monday's winter storm dumped several inches of snow throughout the region. The National Weather Service, which issued a winter storm warning for the region, estimated that areas received between 5 and 10 inches of snow. Thousands of residents in Stafford County were left without power, while hundreds of motorists were stranded on roadways.
