ELIZABETH, NJ — Who gets the honor of being the first New Jersey baby born in the new year, 2022? That title would go to baby girl Keyla Duchi, who entered the world at 12:02 a.m. on January 1 at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth. Parents Maria and Jose Duchi of Irvington welcomed Keyla just two minutes after midnight. Tying that was baby boy Rudra Rakhe, also born at 12:02 a.m. Jan. 1, at Overlook Medical Center in Summit to parents Ambika Nagar and Rohit Rakhe. Then five minutes later, they were followed by a baby boy born at Hackensack University Medical Center's main campus in Hackensack, born at 12:07 a.m. The child was named Gabriel David DeCurtis-Springsteen, sharing at least part of his last name with another Jersey icon. (No, no familial relation to The Boss.) He was born to mother Katlynn DeCurtis and father Thomas Springsteen. The family lives in Belleville. He is their first baby. However, Mom and Dad have four fur baby "siblings" at home waiting for Gabriel: One dog, two cats and two ferrets. A few hours later, at 2:45 a.m. on Jan. 1, this baby girl was born at Saint Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick. Get great local news.
