Description
PLAINFIELD, IL — If you see helicopters around Plainfield this week, it's because they're installing bird diverters on transmission lines south of Renwick Road as part of an ongoing ComEd and MJ Electric project.
The work, which will impact Renwick and Old Renwick roads, is expected to be complete by mid-week, Plainfield officials said in a Monday announcement.
While work is completed at each stop, no people are allowed in the area directly below the affected transmission line. Whenever a helicopter is working on a portion that crosses a road with traffic, workers will stop traffic for about five minutes until the helicopter passes, officials said.
With flight times dictated by the Federal Aviation Administration, helicopter crews can only work when there's minimal wind, no inclement weather and high visibility. As a result, no work can be completed before sun up or after sundown, the village's announcement reads.
