PITTSBURGH, PA — Ed Gainey is being sworn in as Pittsburgh's 61st mayor and its first Black one, marking a seismic political shift in a city and region that have experienced considerable racial tensions in recent years. Gainey, 51, a former state representative from the city's Lincoln-Lemington neighborhood, is being inaugurated in a ceremony that is virtual and partially pre-recorded because of the pandemic. Gainey defeated former Mayor Bill Peduto in the Democratic primary last May and rolled to an easy victory over Republican candidate Tony Moreno in November. Watch the ceremony here:
