JOLIET, IL — A pair of 16-year-old boys and a 17-year-old boy were arrested late Sunday night for having several loaded guns inside a vehicle stopped by Joliet police on the city's east side, according to police reports.
One 16-year-old was arrested on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, defacing the identification marks on a gun, unlawful possession of ammunition and having no FOID. The second 16-year-old and the 17-year-old were arrested on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of ammunition and having no FOID.
All three juveniles were taken to the River Valley Juvenile Justice Center on McDonough Street, police said.
Around 11:35 p.m., Joliet police pulled over a car driven by a 54-year-old man that made an improper turn near Third and Miller Avenue, authorities said.
During the traffic stop, police say one of the juveniles in the back seat appeared to be holding drug paraphernalia. When one of the 16-year-old boys was searched by police, officers recovered a loaded .40 caliber gun, police said.
Two more loaded guns were recovered from inside the car, one was near the floorboard where the 17-year-old sat and a loaded 9 mm gun with a defaced serial number was near where the other 16-year-old sat, police said.
The 54-year-old driver was given a traffic citation for making an improper turn, police reports show.
