Description
OHIO — Nearly 19,000 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed among Ohioans on Monday.
In the past 24 hours, 18,942 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed by the Ohio Department of Health. Over the past three weeks, the state has averaged 13,602 new cases per day.
At least 350 Ohioans were admitted to hospitals with COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, and 37 Ohioans were moved to intensive care units because of the virus, the state health department said.
Currently, there are more than 6,000 Ohioans in hospitals with COVID-19, according to the Ohio Hospital Association. That means one out of every three hospitalized patients is COVID-19 positive.
Ohio's intensive care units have been hit particularly hard, health officials have previously warned. There are 1,307 patients in Ohio's intensive care wards that are COVID-19 positive (again, one out of every three ICU patients is COVID-19 positive).
Since the onset of the pandemic, at least 29,447 Ohioans have died due to COVID-19, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
