Let's celebrate our 2022 Scholarship Award winners for their academic + community achievements, the excellence of Black culture, and more! We Cannot Wait to See You!Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Rho Tau Zeta Chapter, looks forward to greeting each of you for our annual scholarship fundraiser. This year's in-person experience will be memorable, exciting, and is not one to be missed. Make plans to join us! Celebrating Black Excellence! This year’s Scholarship event theme is simply Celebrating Black Excellence. Perseverance has remained our middle name as we’ve all collectively pushed through a pandemic to regain a sense of daily normalcy. At this year’s event, we will celebrate this resilience with a fun- filled night of reconnection, music, dancing, and more. We will also award our scholarship winners at the beginning of the evening and share information about our Z-HOPE Community Service Awards (to be held virtually in Spring 2022). About Our Scholarship ProgramEach year our Sorority awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to deserving Passaic and Morris County high school seniors. Our Scholarship Program offerings honor the legacy of the Sorority and Rho Tau Zeta Chapter. New to our Scholarship Program this year is a scholarship award to a high school student who plans to attend trade school or a community college. We will also award a leadership scholarship, a social work studies award, and two book scholarships. The success of this fundraising event will ensure all of these students are well-funded as they pursue higher levels of academic excellence. We look forward to your support to make this happen! AttireTo set the stage to celebrate Black Excellence, we invite all guests to wear their finest and most fabulous black attire with Kente cloth accents. Kente is a colorfully patterned cloth traditionally woven by hand in Ghana. The colors convey specific meanings: Black: spiritual energy, maturity, mourning, funeral and passing rites Blue: peace, unity, love, harmony Gold/Yellow: wealth, fertility, royalty, affluence, prosperity Green: land, vegetation, growth, crops, harvest, spiritual growth and renewal Grey: ash, healing and cleansing rituals Maroon: mother earth, healing Pink: mildness, femininity Purple: femininity, womanhood Red: death, mourning and funerals Silver: peace, joy, the moon White: purity, cleansing rites and festivals We look forward to seeing how you represent the theme of the evening! Duty of CareWe all are impacted by the current global pandemic in one way or another. In light of this, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Rho Tau Zeta Chapter, continues to monitor safety guidelines and mandates set by the State of New Jersey and the international headquarters of our organization for guidance. In light of this annual scholarship fundraiser, our chapter is fulfilling its contractual obligation to the venue to host this in-person event. As such, we are exercising reasonable measures to help provide safety for our guests and members during the event. Regardless of vaccination status, we request that all guests wear masks, utilize CDC-grade hand sanitation practices, and social distance during this event. Within 72-hours of the event, registrants will receive a questionnaire to inquire about your health status as it pertains to COVID-19. Please look out for it, plan to complete it, and submit it. Let’s all do our part to be safe as we raise money for scholarships through this event. Your support is vital to the work we do. Thank you for partnering with us through these challenging times.
