Description
A lot of the posts here are about Ragdoll cats. Most (if not all) of these posts are a scam. Don't trust these people!
Here is how their scam works:
-All scam listings use a stock image of the cat, not the ones they "have."
-They want to contact you by email. Even if there is a phone number listed, they will tell you that email is easier because they're at work.
-The pictures of the cats will be very different from the photo listed on Craigslist. They will claim that since they moved to an apartment, they cannot keep the kittens, and they are willing on giving the kittens for free, but since they "live" far away from you, they conveniently know a pet transportation company near their location, and for a fee, will have the kittens transported.
-They will then contact you from their fake transportation company. The one I was contacted by was called "Pets Oasis Transport." They do that so you can pay them the shipping fees. They want the payment through Zelle, but please, don't pay for something before you have seen it, especially on Craigslist.
-After a while, they claim that you need to rent out a heated crate for the kittens, which will cost you extra money, but don't worry, you will be refunded for the crate rental.
This does not apply only for Ragdoll kittens. This applies to most (if not all) purebred animals.
If you want a cat/dog, the best thing to do is to go to a nearby animal shelter and adopt from them. If you really want a purebred cat/dog, it's best to go to a dedicated breeder. Yes, the cost will be large, but you will be supporting a mom-and-pop business, and you won't have to worry about it being a scam. I am not saying all purebred animal listings are a scam, but just make sure you know what you're walking into.
