Latoya Turner is a classroom primary teacher. She is from Detroit, Michigan. As a kid, her father took the family on a vacation every year. Family vacations that included the beach were her favorite! She has taught grades K-2 with a little over 10 years of teaching experience. Latoya graduated from an HBCU, Central State University with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She also graduated from Central Michigan University with a master’s degree in Reading and Literacy. Latoya is currently a 1st grade teacher for a Cincinnati Public School. After reading many children’s books to her students and sharing stories about her vacations and HBCU experience, she became inspired to write a children’s book featuring African American characters due to the lack of representation in children’s books. She also has a line of products to go along with the Brown Hands series!
