TAMPA, FL — The Antonio Brown experiment is over for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to head coach Bruce Arians. The receiver is "no longer a Buc," Arians said in a postgame news conference after Brown took off his jersey and left the game during the Buccaneers' 28-24 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. "Alright, that's the end of the story. Let's talk about the guys who went out there and won that game," Arians added after the announcement. Brown has had numerous off the field incidents since his stellar tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers ended after the 2018 season. In April, he settled a lawsuit brought by a former trainer accusing him of sexual assault. He joined Tampa Bay during the 2020 season, coming on strong at the end of the year to help the Buccaneers win Super Bowl LV. During Sunday's incident, teammates were unable to calm him down, and he left the field after tossing his shirt and gloves into the stands. "That's obviously a difficult situation," Tom Brady said, according to The Athletic's Greg Auman. "We all love him and care about him deeply. ... I think everyone should be compassionate and empathetic toward some very difficult things." In parts of two seasons, Brown recorded 84 catches for 1,002 yards and eight touchdowns, averaging 71.5 receiving yards per game. He played in six games and started three during the 2021 season.
