MANASSAS, VA — All Prince William County schools will be closed Monday because of a winter storm warning, the school district announced Sunday. Prince William County Public Schools posted a Code Red to its website Sunday, meaning that all schools and offices will be closed and no in-person or virtual classes will be held. In addition, the school age child care program will be closed, and all non-school activities scheduled to be held in school buildings are canceled, including adult education, night school classes and recreational programs. All school activities, including field trips, team practices, club meetings, interscholastic contests and athletic contests, also are canceled. The District of Columbia and portions of northern Virginia, including Prince William County, will be under a winter storm warning from 1 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service said. Snow totals of 3 to 7 inches are predicted, along with wind gusts of up to 35 mph.
