PALM SPRINGS, CA — A mile-long stretch of North Indian Canyon Drive in Palm Springs was reopened Saturday following an overnight closure due to blowing dust that impacted traffic. The Palm Springs Police Department said the closure and detours were lifted shortly after noon. High winds whipped up a sandstorm that dramatically reduced visibility about mid-afternoon Friday, prompting police to shut down Indian Canyon between Palm Springs Station Road and Sunrise Parkway, just south of Interstate 10. The National Weather Service posted a wind advisory for the upper Coachella Valley and San Gorgonio Pass on Friday, but it expired at about 3 a.m. Saturday. —City News Service
