Description
Press release from the City of Evanston: 01/01/2022 1:32 PM Snow Command Update, Sun., Jan. 2, 1 p.m. Most areas in Evanston received approximately two inches of snow accumulation. Plows are currently out clearing residential streets. Main thoroughfares are now substantially clear. Snow parking restrictions will not be implemented for this event. Snow Command Update, Sat., Jan. 1, 7 p.m. Currently there is less than an inch of snow accumulation on pavement thanks to warmer air and pavement temperatures earlier today. Because of the current accumulation, the City will NOT be declaring a Snow Route Parking Ban on Saturday night or a Snow Emergency even/odd parking ban on side streets on Sunday. The City will take a measurement at the end of the storm to see if any parking restrictions will be needed for Sunday night or Monday morning. Forecasters still expect snow from the storm system and lake effect snow to continue until 7 a.m. on Sunday, so accumulation totals are expected to increase. Community members are encouraged to voluntarily comply with posted snow parking restrictions and take advantage of the free off-street parking options below to help plows clear streets. Maple Avenue Downtown Parking Garage To facilitate anticipated snow clearing operations, the City is offering free parking in the Maple Avenue downtown parking garage, located 1800 Maple Ave., beginning Sat., Jan. 1 through Thurs., Jan. 6 at 11:59 p.m. (Note: Regular parking fees will apply at the Sherman Plaza and Church Street parking garages January 3-6.
