Description
We are looking for a new home for Nina, who is a sweet, medium-sized Australian Shepherd. She is six years old, spayed/housebroken/up on her shots. She has wonderful household manners (doesn't jump on the furniture or chew anything). She doesn't jump up on people. She is a good watch dog and doesn't bark unnecessarily. All she wants is to be petted and loved by YOU.
She is really smart -- as most Australian Shepherds are. She quickly learned our house rules and boundaries (no dog in the kitchen!).
She's a little unsure about cats -- she wasn't brought up around them. After working with her for four months, she's much better/more relaxed around our two. We have chickens (in a coop) and she has never bothered them.
Our (brief) experience is that she is is unsure about most men. When our 26 year old son comes to visit, he'll sit on the floor and call her. She'll go right to him to be petted. She adores my husband, but will still avoid him. When he prepares to leave the house, she'll get upset that he's leaving and will go to him to be petted before he walks out the door.
We're re-homing her because she has recently decided she's the alpha and has become growls/barks at/nips our (bigger) male Aussie.
All to say, we think she would do best in a home where she is the only dog and only where the men in the home will be patient with her. She is a loving and affectionate dog.
There is a small re-homing fee to ensure she's going to a good home.
