Press release from the City of Roswell:
01/01/2022
Roswell is seeking residents' input on amendments to a long-ranging plan for the City's future, the 2040 Comprehensive Plan.
The City will hold a Neighborhood Meeting on Jan. 13, 2022 at Roswell City Hall at 7 p.m. to go over the proposed amendments. This will be followed by a Planning Commission meeting on Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. and a Mayor and City Council meeting on March 14 at 7 p.m. For those unable to attend the meetings, the amendments are available to view at www.RoswellGov.Com/CompPlan, which also includes an online survey to capture feedback. The survey will be active from Jan. 1-17, 2022.
The Comprehensive Plan is a high-level planning document that seeks to unify the direction and policy of economic development, housing, transportation, natural resources, land use, green space, and more. The plan also creates visions for some locations throughout the city so they better fit market conditions. At a minimum, local governments must complete a plan update every 10 years, in accordance with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.
The 2040 Comprehensive Plan was created using feedback from a series of community and online meetings throughout 2019 and 2020, as well as feedback from the stakeholder committee.
While the plan was approved by the Roswell City Council and submitted to the State of Georgia for approval in June 2021, the amendments were proposed too late to be incorporated into the document sent to the state. For these changes to be added, additional public meetings must be held.
