Personal Care Assistant

Jobs

Louisville KY

Description

Hi, my name is Cosmo. I am an 18 year old living with a severe disability called Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2. I rely entirely on my motorized wheelchair to get around. I am looking to hire a responsible, fun, and quick-learning person who will encourage my independence, respect my needs and requests, know when to assist me and when to give me space, and are ready to take on a mix of routine and ad-libbing on a daily basis. As my PCA you will assist me with personal care (including dressing, bathing, using the restroom, stretching, etc), household chores, errands, and anything else that may come up. If you've never worked as a caregiver before, don't let that stop you from applying! This is a job that can be learned quickly and requires no past experience. Requirements: Fully vaccinated, comfortable assisting with personal care, fluent in English & able to follow verbal directions, prompt & reliable (being late heavily affects my life and the lives of the other PCAs, so timeliness is a required trait. Sick days must be extremely rare, but swapping shifts with other PCAs ahead of time is allowed), responds to texts in a timely manner (this is how we'll communicate to coordinate shifts), and a valid driver's license. Pay: 15$/hr with a raise after 6 months. 80$ for an overnight shift. (An overnight shift DOES NOT mean you must stay up all night. An overnight shift will consist of the helping me get ready for bed, sleeping in my room, occasionally assisting me with turning in bed during the night when I request it, and getting me ready for the day in the morning. Hours: Flexible schedule that we will work on together. Ideally a few days a week. 2-3 hours in the afternoon, 1-2 hours at night and in the morning with an overnight in between.
