Description

Craigslist has never been fair, but I agree, it at least used to be fun and entertaining. I am from a northern state, and on cold, January Sundays, one could spend an entire afternoon discussing politics, local entertainment, home improvement; or if you were randy, visit the Personal Encounter section. I personally first stumbled on here 15 years ago. It was often kind back then, and most regulars knew each other by our pseudonyms and would enquire if we did not hear from someone in several days. I believe it was about 2011 when I first began noticing the fallout from a video on YouTube about auto flagging. All bets were off. Overnight, all the regulars began leaving, and only mean spirited, often foul language, political polar extremists remained. It was/is impossible to reach a live person at Craigslist to complain, and in fact, if you complained too often by email, you were denied membership to your account. Forever. Also, a flaw in the system was if you were auto flagged, Craig would flag any post you attempted to post before it even hit the board for about a week. I miss the old days as well but suppose at this juncture they are irretrievable. At best, Craigslist has become the Snapchat of discussion boards. If you do get posted, in most instances the post will last an hour or less. So why bother? Sometimes to preserve one's sanity, you must allow troubled souls to destroy something you love, and in the words of Buddha, you must not become too attached to things of this world. One ole gal's opinion only. Happy new year all! Ruth A.
