Feeler: possibility of non-metal tributes in the city

Meets

Houston TX

Description

I don't really want to stop playing/singing, but this city's offering (whether originals or covers) seems to be very limited for how big the metro area is. I can play bass, rhythm guitar, and do vocals. I am rusty since nothing out there is what I like or available. So I need to know if there is a chance in Houston to at least create tributes to bands that shockingly don't have them in Houston. That would give me an idea of what to learn/relearn/practice. Somehow these don't have tributes in town: Hall & Oates, REO Speedwagon, The Clash, Huey Lewis & The News, John Mellencamp and a few others. Wish list would include Joy Division/New Order and B-52's, plus non-traditional 80s new wave/post-punk. I was a vocalist for an REM tribute and that was fun. Originals would be cool but I doubt 40-somethings are doing that out there a lot. Non-metal, non hard-rock people, you out there?
