SARASOTA, FL — Detectives are investigating a shooting in the 1400 block of Main Street that left one man with life-threatening injuries early Saturday morning, Sarasota police shared on Facebook. The shooting happened just before 2 a.m., police said. Earlier that evening, a portion of downtown Sarasota, including nearby Five Points Park, was set up for a New Year's Eve block party and the Pineapple Drop at midnight. The man was brought to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment. At least one woman is in police custody in connection with the shooting, police said. Detectives believe the shooting is an isolated incident and there's no danger to the public.
