Press release from City School District of Albany: December 31, 2021 The City School District of Albany will distribute COVID-19 test kits to district families Sunday afternoon at Harriet Gibbons Student Services Center. The district also will distribute test kits at each school next week for those families unable to pick up kits Sunday. Parents and guardians of district students can pick up one test kit per student on Sunday from noon-4 p.m. at Harriet Gibbons, located at 75 Watervliet Ave. The district is planning drive-through or walk-up pickup at Harriet Gibbons, with test kits labeled for each district student. Parents and guardians will need to have the district school, name and date of birth for each student. We appreciate your patience as there may be some waiting during the pickup process. The Albany Police Department will be on site to assist with traffic flow. Parents and guardians should report all positive test results to the Albany County Health Department via this link. All district schools will return to full in-person instruction Monday as scheduled. If your child tests positive at home or has any COVID-19 symptoms, do not send your child to school Monday. If you are unable to pick up a test kit Sunday, each school will schedule test kit pickup for parents and guardians after the school day beginning Tuesday. Test kits labeled for each student will be available beginning Tuesday for those families who are unable to pick up kits Sunday. Please watch for more information about the school-based distribution procedures and pick-up times for each school. The district also is developing plans for expanded building-based COVID-19 testing in the new year. Please remember that pre-registration is required for testing; you can use this link to register if you have not done so already. Health and safety guidance from both the state and the county health department continues to evolve. As always, we will keep you updated as new guidance or information related to COVID-19 becomes available. The district continues to encourage COVID-19 vaccinations for everyone 5 and older who is able and eligible. This press release was produced by City School District of Albany.
