Description

Press release from the City of Peoria: January 1, 2022 Please see the below message from Sie Maroon, Deputy Director of Public Works: Good morning and Happy New Year!  We are bringing in the new year right off the bat with our first significant snowstorm of the season.  The Snow Fighters are on the streets in anticipation of the storm arriving in our area very soon.  The arrival is actually just minutes away from us.  The approaching system is expected to bring a mix of freezing drizzle/snow/sleet to start and then changing to all snow by mid to late morning.  The expected amounts will likely range from 3" to 5" with the potential of 4" to 7" of accumulation in total by the end of the storm, which is expected to be around 5-7 AM Sunday morning.  We are on our around-the-clock operations and will remain on them until we have treated and plowed all of the primary arterial streets before moving into residential areas for plowing curb to curb when the snow stops falling.  It is very likely to see snowpack on residential streets before the plow trucks get to them as the storm comes to an end.  Everyone is encouraged to stay indoors today unless it is absolutely necessary to be out traveling and if you do please drive with caution and be safe.  Thanks!
