Description
OAK LAWN, IL — With a winter storm warning in effect through Sunday afternoon for McHenry, Lake, Kane, DuPage, Cook and Will counties, the region is about to get clobbered by up to eight inches of snow New Year's weekend. Now is probably a good time to review Oak Lawn 's confusing snow parking rules.
When there is more than one-inch of snowfall, there is no parking on designated snow routes until snow removal operations are completed. Also, the village's off/even ordinance is in effect. There is no parking on even-numbered sides of the streets on even-numbered days, and no parking on odd-numbered sides on odd-numbered days. This means that on Saturday, Jan. 1, you'll want to park on the even-numbered side of the street. On Sunday, Jan. 2, you'll want to park on the odd-numbered side.
Each winter storm event is unique, and includes de-icing, ant-icing, plowing or a combination of all three. Snow removal is coordinated by the Oak Lawn Public Works Department.
