On December 31, 2021 at approximately 02:00 a.m., the Escondido Police and Fire Communication Center received a report of a fire in a home in the area of the 3000 block of Laredo Ln. The first arriving engine Captain reported a single story, single-family residence with smoke coming from the rear of the home.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire in approximately 20 minutes. Crews were on scene for several hours performing salvage, overall, and ensuring that the fire was completely extinguished.
All occupants were able to exit the structure without injury as well as one family dog. In all, five fire engines, one ladder truck, one rescue ambulance, and one Chief Officer responded to the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
