Description
My grandpa was a grump. I do not dress like he did. I do not enjoy the same foods that he did. I am not a Christian as he was. His style and beliefs were outdated. Like many older people, he resisted change and progress. My grandpa thought a woman place was in the kitchen. He was intimidated by people of other cultures and disliked technology.
I respect republicans in the same way that I respected my grandpa. Their ideas and beliefs are antiquated and stale. Their attitudes are dated. I do not agree with their stubborn limited mindset, but I respect their fears and their right to their own opinions.
Progressives want progress. Progressives built railroads and invented automobiles. Progressives invented things like the the telephone and the computer. Progressives also invented the television and the internet. Conservatives resist these types of things. Conservatives resist progress and take comfort in the status quo.
Perhaps, progressives and conservatives are the perfect checks and balances system. Progressives push for progress and conservatives resist which in turn moderates the pace at which progress occurs. Progress is good. Rapid progress can be bad.
Progressives and conservatives are a symbiotic relationship.
