Description

With a unique sound, Oolong Gurus play a variety of Alternative country, Rock with elements of Bluegrass, Blues, and all things Americana. The Oolong Gurus came about quite by accident. Founding member Brad Williams had been playing music on the Bluegrass circuit for a number of years. His son Aaron had begun to express an interest in music and had taken up the drums. Since there are no drums in bluegrass music it was decided to start a band together so that Aaron could learn the ropes from his "old man". Longtime friend Alan Duffy was recruited to play lead guitar and various bass players have graced the lineup. But what about a name? When Aaron was in the 5th grade, both he and his friend Ronnie failed the spelling bee at the words "Oolong" and the other at "Guru". By the way they really are college educated today! Brad spent the rest of the day calling the two kids the "Oolong Gurus". He said if you guys ever start a band, that would be a fun name. Long story short, Aaron did join a band with his dad and some friends that has since been called the Oolong Gurus. While Aaron has since moved on, married, and started a "real" job, his youthful spirit remains and he still sits in with the group whenever he can. The Galion Community Theatre was formed to develop a community appreciation for the performing arts; produce dramas, musicals, and other related community productions; support the performing arts department of the local school district; and build a working relationship between adults and youth in all its activities
