Professor and Chef Karen Krimmer of the CSCC Baking & Pastry Arts Programs and Chef Virginia of The Mix, have teamed up to bring you Love Is in the Air.
Love is in the Air, the first in a new baking and pastry series called Craveable: Crispy, Chewy, Pretty, Sweet. From the macaron’s origins in the almond-producing Ottoman Empire, to Venetian merchants, to Paris, to the rest of the world by the 21st century, it’s no wonder everyone wants to stake claim to this beloved pastry. Students will make heart-shaped macarons featuring fresh raspberries, chocolate-raspberry ganache, candied rose petals and precious gold leaf. We’ll celebrate our pastry creations with pink Champagne, and every participant will leave with a beautiful gift box of these irresistible pastries for your favorite valentine.
Fun fact: National Macaron Day, March 20, was founded by popular Parisian bakery La Maison Pierre Hermé.
