Description

The Los Angeles premiere of British filmmaker and installation artist Isaac Julien's Ten Thousand Waves. British filmmaker and installation artist Isaac Julien is one of the most lauded and influential figures in contemporary art. At this event, Julien, with his partner Mark Nash, an independent curator, writer, and former head of contemporary art at the Royal College of Art in London, will present the Los Angeles premiere of the single-screen version of Julien’s Ten Thousand Waves (2010). Ten Thousand Waves was shot on location in Shanghai and poetically weaves together stories linking China’s ancient past and its present. First shown vertically as a multi-screen installation in the atrium at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the critically acclaimed work explores the movement of people across countries and continents and meditates on unfinished journeys.
