RhythmTrance is an improvisational journey off the grid and in real time. With ambient gongs and Tibetan bowls evolving into pulsating ecstatic rhythms on drums and other instruments from around the globe. Listen, meditate or let your body move… it’s completely up to you. - Greg Ellis bG After Hours is pleased to present a very special evening with American drummer and percussionist, Greg Ellis. Join us on Sunday January 2nd for an organic immersion into music and art to mindfully and energetically usher in the new year. A contemporary group art show reception will be held from 5:30-7pm and the RhythmTrance performance will begin at 7pm. People are encouraged to bring chairs, cushions, blankets or mats to make themselves comfortable for the performance. Limited capacity with masks required. About Greg Ellis: Greg Ellis is recognized as one of the more innovative and versatile drummers in the world. Able to cross multiple genres of music from Indian classical to rock and roll, he has performed and recorded with musical artists from over 30 countries including Zakir Hussain, Mickey Hart, Kodo, Sussan Deyhim, Yungchen Lhamo, Juno Reactor and many more. He has released numerous critically acclaimed albums and can be heard on more than 150 film, television and video game scores, including 300, Argo, The Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions, Iron Man, Body of Lies, Guardians Of The Galaxy, God Of War, Far Cry and many more. As a passionate advocate on the healing and therapeutic properties of rhythm and drumming, he founded a project called RhythmPharm as a way to encourage the importance of organic rhythm and frequency through recordings and live sessions. He has presented seminars, lectures and events on the topic at various conferences and institutions around the world including TEDx, The Woolf Institute in Cambridge, England, UCLA, Rutgers University, The Quantum Life University in Hyderabad, India and more. Greg is also working on a book and documentary called The Click which explores the effects both physically and psychologically of removing ourselves from our sense of natural time, and submitting to a world completely controlled by the clock.
