Probably something like Jay Van Raalte. Jay’s musical endeavors have ranged from old school blues to folk/country, from musical theater to modern rock, but three things remain constant: thoughtful guitar playing, perceptive songwriting, and a strict attention to detail and arrangement. All of this is on display in Jay’s debut release, Linearity. The self-produced EP features Van Raalte on nearly every instrument but bringing the songs to life onstage requires a team: drummer Logan Crank and bassist Derk Van Raalte round out the sound, providing a rock-solid foundation for Jay’s fiery guitar playing. Jay works fast. Within six months of picking up guitar, Jay ended up on stage alongside Grammy winner Buddy Guy at age 14. They co-founded Jump Castle Riot while in high school, playing shows from South Carolina to Connecticut. The band received frequent recognition as Charleston’s Up and Coming Band of the Year (2016), Blues Band of the Year (2016, 2017, 2018), Rock Band of the Year (2019), with Jay named Charleston's Guitarist of the Year (2018) and a Reverend Guitars featured artist. Since then, Jay has performed with numerous other artists, including Matt Megrue, Kevn Kinney/Drivin n Cryin, Mark Bryan of Hootie and the Blowfish, and American Idol’s Elise Testone. Jay has since released a solo debut, Linearity, with a full length follow up in the works, and plays behind other artists as a guitar for hire. Jay "has a willingness to try on different musical styles, production techniques, chord progressions – to be a creative omnivore" and "plays a thick, smoky style of lead guitar that drips with roadhouse menace." Yet Jay's goals remain modest: “I just want to make music that I think is good with people I like.” Inn VinegarJazz influenced multi-genre vocal/guitar, bass, piano, drum quartet from Charleston, Sc consisting of McCarthy Fitch, Alex Brouwer, Misha Pekar and Jesse Shafer. * Show is all ages.
