As we welcome the new year, let us also gather in celebration and defense of the written word. Ring in the new year among fellow PEN America Members and supporters at our annual New Year New Books Party in Los Angeles! As we welcome 2022, let us also gather in celebration and in defense of the written word. The past year has seen alarming drives in legislatures, school districts, and communities nationwide to ban books by members of our community that bring diversity and representation to our shelves. Join us in standing for the joy that literature brings to our lives. We will be celebrating with PEN America Los Angeles and our literary host committee of KK Wootton, Randa Jarrar, and Jade Chang. Join us for toasts to our favorite books published during the pandemic, open bar, light bites from Heirloom, and a DJ set by dublab. All allies of the LA literary community, including readers, writers, journalists, editors, agents, translators, publishers, and friends are warmly invited. The event will be held in an outdoor space and will adhere to protocols developed in accordance with California State regulations for the safety of our guests and staff. All guests will be asked to show proof of their vaccination status upon arrival at the venue.
