SOUTHBURY, CT — A 52-year-old Milford man was killed in Southbury Wednesday night when he was struck by two vehicles as he tried to cross Interstate 84 at Exit 15, according to state police. Ricky L. Izzard was pronounced dead at the scene of the 11:30 p.m. crash, state police said. WTNH-TV reported that Izzard was a suspect in a stabbing in Newington earlier in the evening. "Vehicle #1 was traveling in the right lane of two on I-84 eastbound, between the Exit 15 ramps, in the Town of Southbury, CT," the state police report reads. "Vehicle #2 was traveling in the left lane, behind Vehicle #1. A pedestrian, which was standing in the right shoulder, began crossing the travel lanes, walking north. The pedestrian was struck by Vehicle #1 in the right lane and then by Vehicle #2 in the left lane." The driver in the second vehicle, a 51-year-old Waterbury man, sustained minor injuries in the crash and was treated at St. Mary's Hospital, state police said. Newington police reportedly said the stabbing occurred at about 9 p.m. at the Bradford Commons on Willard Avenue; a woman suffered serious injuries in the attack. The crash remains under investigation, and state police are urging anyone who may have witnessed it to contact Trooper Ryan Lopez at Troop A at 203-267-2200.
