TOMS RIVER, NJ — If one of your tasks over New Year's weekend involves packing up decorations and getting rid of your live Christmas tree, Toms River officials are urging you to recycle it. The Parks and Recreation Department welcomes Christmas trees at any of the following Toms River parks. At the parks, the trees are made into wood chips that are then available to township residents. Bring your tree to any of these parks: Skyview Park (Vaughn Avenue)Riverwood Park (Riverwood Avenue) Silverton Park (Maine Street)Bayside Park (Bay Boulevard, Ortley Beach) Bey Lea Park (Tennis Court and Parking Lot)Chadwick Beach Park (Strickland Boulevard)Money Island Park (Longfellow Avenue)Winding River Park - South (Off Route 37 West)Toms River Township Recycling Center (Church Road) The Public Works Department will collect Christmas trees after the Parks & Recreation recycling program is completed. Curbside tree collection will take place from Jan. 18 through Jan. 28. After Jan. 28, all trees must be taken to a facility, either the township's Recycling Convenience Center at 1672 Church Road, or one of the Ocean County recycling centers. Christmas trees are accepted at the Northern and Southern Recycling Centers year-round during regular business hours (7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Saturday). The Southern Recycling Center is located at 379 Haywood Road, Manahawkin. The Northern Recycling Center is located at 535 Oberlin Ave. South, Lakewood.
