NEWARK, NJ — A teen died earlier this week after being shot in Newark, authorities announced Thursday.
Police are investigating the fatal shooting of Nazier Taylor, 18, of Newark, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.
Prosecutors released the following statement about Taylor's death:
"On Sunday, Dec. 25 at approximately 7:54 p.m., the victim was dropped off by car at East Orange General Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to University Hospital in Newark. Two days later he succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead on Dec. 28, at 6:15 p.m. The preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred on Columbia Avenue in Newark." No arrests have been made as of Thursday. An investigation is ongoing, prosecutors said.
