Now, here's everything happening around town today. First, today's weather: Times of clouds and sun. High: 49 Low: 16. Here are the top stories in Colorado Springs today: State health officials in Colorado reported to the federal government Dec. 29 that approximately 69 percent of inpatient beds and 75 percent of intensive care unit beds in hospitals across the state were occupied. Around 11 percent of inpatient beds and 30 percent of ICU beds statewide were filled by COVID-19 patients, they reported. (Colorado Springs Patch) The Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to a grass fire on Thursday. The fire was reportedly a half-acre at Academy and Pikes Peak. It is currently under control as crews will remain on the scene to extinguish hotspots. (KKTV 11 News) Colorado Springs is expected to see between one and three inches of snow this New Year's Eve. This comes after the longest stretch without measurable snowfall in the city's history, as Wednesday marked the 232nd day without measurable snowfall. According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, the longest stretch without snow in Colorado Springs lasted 236 days in 2012 and 1946.
