As Omicron rages through San Diego, many industries have been affected. The airline industry is an important part of the holiday season, but they are struggling to keep flights going. According to Flight Aware, an online service that tracks air travel, there were 191 flight delays and 26 cancellations coming to and going from San Diego International Airport on Thursday. We're hoping with the new isolation requirements by the CDC things get back to 'normal' soon. (NBC San Diego) Snow from San Diego to the Sierra Nevada. What's going on with this weather in San Diego? Locally, a few inches of fresh powder fell in some higher elevations, with snow-goers enjoying playtime in the powder in Mount Laguna and elsewhere. There was flooding on streets, beaches, and things were generally a mess. The good news is the forecast calls for clearing to start 2022. (NBC San Diego) Some San Diego shelters stop intake due to COVID-19 outbreak. At least four shelters for those experiencing homelessness in the San Diego County area were unable to take any more people in Thursday because of COVID-19 outbreaks. This is bad news for the populations most vulnerable, as wet weather and Omicron really make things challenging. San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria said combating homelessness was one of his toughest jobs in 2021 but now with the weather and the COVID uptick, it's a growing uphill battle. "We've seen some progress but clearly no one in San Diego is content with the current circumstances," he said.
