Description
ELMHURST, IL — Catalytic converters were stolen this week from the same business where more than a dozen were removed a few days earlier, police said.
Shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday, five converters were taken from three vehicles that were in the southeast corner of the parking lot at Trans Chicago Trucking, 776 N. York St., police said.
Early the morning of Dec. 23, 17 converters were stolen from vehicles at Trans Chicago, according to a police report.
About 1 a.m. that morning, officers pulled over a car they said was suspicious. The suspects were found to have multiple Sawzall blades and significant amounts of metal shavings on the floor of the rear of their silver Infiniti, police said. They were apparently near Trans Chicago. There has been no word on the investigation.
Last week, seven other converters were stolen from vehicles at other businesses in town.
