ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a purse theft, harassment of hospital employees, road rage, theft by deception, a theft at York High School, a driver's license mystery and a stolen rental car. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Purse theft An unattended purse was stolen about 5:30 p.m. Monday at Chipotle, 139 N. York St. Patch has filed a public records request for the video and report on the incident. Hospital harassed Elmhurst Hospital informed police Dec. 23 that a person had been calling employees to harass and threaten them. An officer contacted the suspect, who agreed to cease all contact with hospital staff. The suspect was served with a no-trespass notice. Road rage A road rage incident occurred about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday near North Avenue and Illinois Route 83. A woman said the suspect began following her car. A witness told police that both drivers were driving aggressively, cutting off each other and stopping on the roadway to exchange words. Officers checked the area, but were unable to find the other driver. Theft by deception Someone used the information of S&D Roofing Service, 957 S. Riverside Drive, to rent construction equipment between July 30 and Dec. 27. The company contacted the rental company and reported the fraudulent activity. Locker room theft Money and a pair of AirPods were stolen between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at York High School, 355 St. Charles Road. They were left unattended in a secured locker room. An investigation is pending. Curfew violation A youth was seen violating the city's curfew about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at Maple and Armitage. The youth was cited and released to a parent. Driver's license mystery A resident in the 400 block of West St. Charles Road told police Tuesday that she received an envelope containing a false Illinois driver's license with her information and a stranger's photo. Enclosed in the envelope was a note explaining the sender found the license in Chicago and wished to return it. The resident said she had misplaced her driver's license and immediately notified the secretary of state's office. Stolen rental car Avis Car Rental, 890 N. York St., told police Wednesday that a customer failed to return a rental car on the agreed-upon date, which was Nov. 10. Avis notified the suspect by certified mail to return the car. An officer contacted the suspect's father, who stated the suspect had reported the vehicle stolen. Identity theft A resident in the 800 block of South Mitchell told police Wednesday that someone used her credit card information to make a purchase at a Home Depot store in Fairfield, Alabama, a Birmingham suburb. The victim contacted her credit card company to report the fraudulent activity. A resident in the 200 block of North Indiana Street told police Monday that someone moved her phone number to another provider without her consent and attempted to change the password as well. A resident in the 200 block of West Adams told police Tuesday that someone used his personal information to buy cars from two dealerships in Alabama and South Carolina. The resident has seen no financial loss. Porch piracy A package was stolen about 5 p.m. Dec. 21 from the front porch of a house in the 500 block of South Linden Avenue. The incident was reported Wednesday. Fugitive drivers An officer tried to stop a Volkswagen Passat for speeding about 8:30 p.m. Monday at St. Charles and York. The driver failed to stop and sped away, last seen heading east on Interstate 290. An officer tried to stop a black Audi for violating a railroad signal about 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles and Berkley. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on St. Charles Road.
