Sam Sifton, the founding editor of New York Times Cooking in conversation with author Ellen T. White. Sam Sifton is an assistant managing editor of The New York Times, responsible for culture and lifestyle coverage, and the founding editor of New York Times Cooking. He has also served as the newspaper's national news editor, culture editor, restaurant critic and columnist for The New York Times Magazine. A graduate of Harvard College, he started his career at the weekly New York Press, in Manhattan, and worked as a writer and editor for Talk Magazine before joining The Times in 2002. The author, most recently, of two cookbooks, See You On Sunday and New York Times Cooking No-Recipe Recipes, Sifton lives in Brooklyn and Greenport, New York. Ellen T. White is the former managing editor of The New York Public Library and the author of Simply Irresistible: Lessons in Love from the Most Famous and Infamous Women in History (Perseus Books).
