USPSA Grandmaster Tim Herron 2-Day Practical Performance Class Description: Your performance while shooting depends on many variables. When it comes to training, quality is much more important than quantity. This class will not only provide you with the knowledge and tools to make every round count to enhance your shooting skills. It will also provide you with the knowledge and tools to supplement your training program to develop the physical, visual, and cognitive skills needed to perform at a high level and increase your overall shooting performance. Day 1 Assessment of current skills of students Group shooting and untimed accuracy Concepts of grip/hand placement and position on the pistol and applied pressures Understanding sight management Diagnosing grip and triggering issues One-handed SHO/WHO shooting concepts Dry fire skills and techniques for improvement Managing mental and emotional pressure Sight deviation and sight anchoring (what it is and it's an advantage of accuracy at speed) Shot calling (understanding and mastery) Day 2 Multiple targets and transitions (building efficiency) Throttle control and its application Entries/Exits Importance of having a gun up ready to shoot ALWAYS Barrel Drill Stage planning (visualization, self-talk) Stage shooting and performance improvement and evaluation Instructor: Tim Herron has been a GM since 2014, has won numerous single stack titles, and continues to shoot enthusiastically, always pursuing improvement. Tim has been instructing since 2015 and loves working with people of all skill levels. His finely tuned eye for detail and personal "trial and error" experience allow him to spot inefficiencies that many people overlook. Round Count: 600 The round count provided is a SAFE ESTIMATE. You may not shoot all of them. If you want to bring twice as many, that's up to you. If you can only afford to bring half as much, give us a heads up, and we'll adjust accordingly. Equipment Needed: Reliable pistol (consider a backup pistol as well) At least three magazines Holster and mag pouches Safety equipment (eye protection/hearing protection) Range bag/gear needed for a day at the range Relevant weather-related gear (rain gear, umbrella, sunscreen, hat, jacket, gloves, to prepare for any weather) PLEASE make sure you have working, proven equipment, ammunition that runs, spare batteries (if you have an optic), and a backup if you think you'll need it. Malfunctions and consistent issues hinder your ability to learn, and you'll be wasting good money on a learning experience that is punctuated by gun or ammo problems. We hate to see students lose out on knowledge and training because of equipment issues. We cannot stress enough - We want you to get the most out of any class that you can - please make sure your equipment is running, zeroed, and proven. Sustainment: You can't live without water. It's a fact. There’s a huge mental component to shooting, so please bring enough water and food to keep you and your brain going throughout each day of training. There is a vending machine near the classroom and range with drinks and snacks.
