Local orchardist Art Church shares his novel methods for producing new, tasty fruit varieties for the home orchardist in Boundary County. In this class, you will learn how to plan and plant new fruit varieties for this area. Art uses a thick mulch ground cover in this orchard, and inoculates the bark mulch with mushroom spawn, producing high yielding, tasty mushrooms while helping provide nutrients to the trees. He keeps his trees short and well pruned for ease of management. Art is creating a new fruit orchard at the GROW! Community Garden that will provide hands-on experience for interested community members. Active GROW! members receive a 50% discount on class ticket prices.
