FLOCK OF SEAGIRLS: Ladies of the '80s Tribute is seeking a female drummer for a permanent position in the band. Flock of Seagirls has played in numerous venues throughout California and Nevada, including Retro Junkie, Bimbo’s, Slim’s, Sweetwater Music Hall, Harrah’s Reno, ApCal Winery, Rockbar Theater, Rickshaw Stop, and at local events including the Hayward Zucchini Festival, Livermore Wine Festival, Sacramento PRIDE, SJSU Tailgate Party, Facebook Farmer’s Market, Union Square Live, various private events, weddings, and much more! We have six band members: Lead vox, keys/keytar/percussion, lead guitar, bass, drums, and rhythm guitar/backup vox/keytar. We range, in age, from late 30s to mid-40s. We have become very close friends over the years. We're a tight-knit group seeking a fun-loving, responsible, seasoned musician to come join the family and the fun! We all have solid careers and families. We understand that your job and family need to come first! No worries. This band is a "paid hobby" band for each of us, but we do take our practices and performances seriously while having as much fun together as possible. General Details: • Gig pay is split evenly between all performing band members • Practices are unpaid. We do it 'cuz we love it...and let's face it. It's basically a "girls night out." • We vote on the gigs we do, set lists, and new song choices in a democratic fashion...there is no "leader" in this band #divasBeware • Most of our gigs are in the Bay Area and do not require overnights/out-of-town, though we do some gigs like that upon occasion if everyone agrees to do so • Practices are usually held in the East Bay at Soundwave Studios in Oakland or at a band member's home in Livermore–Drum set provided for Livermore practices. However, if you have your own practice space or studio, we may be willing to migrate to you! • Frequency of gigs and practices TBD once we find our faboo, new drummer. We generally gig 8-10x per year when COVID isn't "a thing". We already have gigs set for March and late July 2022 with more requests in the works • You must be 21+ • You must be fully vaxxed • You must be adept at and comfortable playing with some backing tracks. #clicksInYourEarDear • You must have all your own gear • You must have your own means of transportation to and from rehearsals and gigs, though, sometimes, we do carpool Already in another gigging band? No problem. Most of us are, too! We do our best to keep an organized band calendar that works for everyone. As long as we're all available to do a gig, we'll book it!
