Press release from the Town of Wakefield: December 29, 2021 - 1:44pm The New Year will bring several elections here in Town. Any residents who have election-related questions can contact the Town Clerk's office at 781-246-6383. January 25, 2022Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School District-Wide Election 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Galvin Middle School Although voters at Wakefield's Town Meeting approved 100-to-6 an article allowing the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School District Committee (NMRVC) to borrow funds for the construction of a new building on Hemlock Road, the matter will be taken up at a special election on January 25 in all 12 municipalities that the school services: Chelsea, Malden, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Revere, Saugus, Stoneham, Wakefield, Winchester, Winthrop, and Woburn. Massachusetts general law requires that polling be open no fewer than four and no greater than eight hours for such an election. The NMRVC shall reimburse each community for the cost of the election. February 22, 2022 Special Election: Town Council7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Galvin Middle School There will be a special election to fill one Town Council seat currently vacant due to the passing of Councilor Peter May. Interested candidates must return their nomination papers to Wakefield's Town Clerk by January 4, 2022. April 26, 2022 Annual Town Election7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Galvin Middle School Candidates wishing to run for office in Wakefield's Annual Town Election can obtain nomination papers at the Town Clerk's office; they are due back by March 8.
