RIDGEFIELD, CT —Coronavirus at-home test kit distribution in Ridgefield has been delayed amid supply issues. The town had plans to take receipt of 3,150 kits for distribution to town residents from the state Wednesday night. But due to shipment delays from California, the much anticipated test kits are not yet available and the state has yet to release a specific date when they will reach municipalities, according to a news release from First Selectman Rudy Marconi's office. Marconi said that the kits are intended for adults only—with a limit of one kit for each adult. Given the town's population of 25,000, there will not be enough test kits for everybody. A separate allocation will be made through the Ridgefield Public Schools—one test kit per student—and Superintendent Susie Da Silva will share that information when it becomes available. Marconi has asked that residents be thoughtful about whether they need a test kit or not: "This is for immediate use in hopes that we can limit the spread."
